Akhlaaq and Ibaadath of the Prophet SAW through the eyes of a child

2022

Honarable judgers, respected elders and my dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alaikum warahmathullahi wabrakathuhu

Today I am standing infront of you to deliver a speech on the topic of Akhlaaq and Ibaadath of the Prophat SAW through the eys of a child Insha Allah.

I have divided my speech in to three parts. In the first part I’ll be talking about the Akhlaaq of the prophet SAW. In the second part I’ll be talking about the Ibaadath of the Prophet SAW. In the third part I’ll be talking about the lesson what can learn from it Insha Allah.

Let’s start the first part of my speech. First of all let’s see what is meant by Akhlaaq.

There are so many definitions for ahlaaq but i like to court what Imam Ibnul Qayyim Rahimahullah said.

بذل المعروف قولا وفعلا

وكف الاذي قولا وفعلا

وهو انما يقوم علي الاسلام

Doing good by word and action and not doing harm by word and action which is based on Islam

Let’s see what does our creator who created the prophet SAW said about He SAW Akhlaaq.  Sura Qalam verse 4 it says,

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ

Indeed You are of the highest noble character.

Subahanallah,

Here Allah SWT gives the certificate of his character. Who knows well about his creations except the creator himself.

Imagine in our school, I our head teacher says good about one of our character in front of the whole school..how would it be for us.

In order get that name we truly should be the best. Here Allah SWT saying among all of His creations.

Subahanallah,

This means when you collect all the good characters in the entire universe and put together. Yet our beloved prophet SA is above all of them Allahu Akbar.

I think this one Ayath is sufficient for us to understand the Akhlaq of  our beloved  Prophet SAW.

Unfortunately he SAW is the one who mostly demonised in the world through out the history.

Lets see what our prophet SAW said about him.

It is reported in the Bulhary?  ‘I was sent to complete the best of morals. When we looked at this Hadiths even as a child, If I want to choose someone to complete a task, obviously I’ll choose the best in the particular field.

So here Allah chose our beloved Prophet SAW why? Because he is the best in his morals. Subahanallah.

Another example

One old woman made a habit of throwing rubbish on Prophet Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wsalam) whenever he passed from her house! Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wsalam) had to pass that house daily on the way to the mosque.
Even when the old woman threw rubbish on him, he would pass silently without showing any anger or annoyance. This was a regular, daily event.

One day when the Prophet was passing by, the woman was not there to throw the rubbish. He stopped, and asked the neighbour about her well-being, and wondering why she wasn't dropping any rubbish on him.

The neighbour informed the Prophet that the woman was sick on bed. The Prophet politely asked permission to visit the woman. When allowed he entered the house, the woman thought that he had come there to take his revenge when she was unable to defend herself because of sickness.

But the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wsalam) assured her that he had come to her, not to take any revenge, but to see her and to look after her needs, as it was the command of Allah that if any one is sick, a Muslim should visit him and should help him if his help is needed.

Allahu Akbar

What an extraordinary character think about our selves. Even  if our own brother or sister done something accidentally we can’t bear  it.What would be our reaction?

If I want to talk the Ahlaaq of our beloved prophet SAW I can go on and on whether it could be modesty or gentleness or kindness or honesty or cheerful face or patience or .... the list goes on and on. What ever you name it our prophet SAW is the best out of all the creations.

Now lets move to the 2nd part of my speech which is the ibadath of our prophet SAW. The term ibadath literally  means  worship. The scholars define it in various ways.i would like to court you Imam ibnu Tayymiyah’s definition.

Ibadhah is a collective form for everything which Allah loves and is pleased with from among the sayings and inward and outward actions.

Ibadah comprises of 3 things.

1.obedience.

2.submission.

3. lowering oneself.

I would like to simplify this definition by using our own examples. For example for the  SLIF NCC, no body force me to do that, I was willingly prepared for it .  I didn’t think it as a burden on me, and I tried my utmost best. Why? Hoing that i will win and get a prize.

The maximum I can Imagine as a prize is an ipad3.

But Allah SWT is calling us to give better than an ipad3 or better than anything that you could imagine. He SWT only asking us to worship him alone. Thats the whole purpose of our life. I really want to mention that some of us have the misunderstanding that ibadath means only 5 pillars. Thats  not the only thing. The whole life should be ibadath.

Allah SWT says sura  ad-dhariath verse 56

وَمَا خَلَقۡتُ ٱلۡجِنَّ وَٱلۡإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُونِ

Which means,

“I did not create Jinn and Mankind except for My worship.

There is a hadees,

·         It was reported that the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) stayed up all night, standing (in prayer) until his feet became swollen. When he was asked, “Why are you doing this, when Allah has forgiven all your past and future wrong actions?” he replied, “Should I not be a grateful slave?” [Sahih Bukhari]

Subhanallah!

Think about ourselves. Lets leave the nafl prayer one side for a moment , lets talk about the fard prayer.

How many of us pray by ourselves without any reminder from their parents?

How many times do our parents need to remind us for one prayer?

Look at our prophet SAW , his previous sins were forgiven, yet He SAW willingly did all of these. So how much should we have to do my dear brothers and sisters?

If you allow me to talk about the ibadath of our beloved prophet SAW I can go on and on, but time doesn’t permits me. So in a nut shell He SAW whole life was ibadat, whether it could be 5 pillars or family life or societal affairs or running a state or ect

Now lets move to my last part of my speech which is the lesson what we can take for ourselves. Insha allah.

When  I learned about our beloved prophet SAW as a child there are so many question came to my mind. How  could our prophet SAW managed to do all of this? I mean having good ahlaq and doing the ibadath in the best manner    in his whole life no matter what the situation is whether it be happy, sad rich poor or what it may be.

When we look at the society it was full of bad practice such cheating, killing, oppression , violent and ect. Our  prophet SAW had to go against the society. it is very easy to loos in the crowd. Some people might say thats because He is the prophet . we are just ordinary human being, we can’t change our nature. If  this statement is true, then how could prophwt  SAW change the sahabas intoexcellent people. They   were the ones with full of bad practice as I mentioned before.

When we look at our society’s  values  is not very different to theirs. It is also full of with bad , non Islamic  values and practices  such as individualism, freedom, seeking benefit out of everything, living the life to the max, bulling, cheating, oppression, worshipping money and pop stars and ect..

How can we 0ver come these values and become true muslims.    Because the values of the world we live today and our Islamic ahlaq and ibadat are totally two opposite things.

If all of the people of this world become good, i.e have good ahlaq will the world become a better place? I mean will it be safe and secure? will we get all of our rights? Could we eradicate the poverty? Will it prosper and advance?

I thought and thought but I couldn’t find an answer. Finally I approached  my parents and they gave me an answer which  convince me. Alhamdulillah.

My dear brothers and sisters please take head of this.

First of all our believe in Allah SWT should be firm. There shouldn’t be any shadow of a doubt. This should be based on rational thinking.we shouldn’t be a muslim because we are born to a muslim  parent. It  should be with a clear conviction.

1.clear proof that Allah SWT exist.

2.quran is the word of Allah.

3.Prophet Muhammad SAW is theprophet of Allah.

After the true conviction of these 3 things we should accept all of Allah SWT command. Whether it could be Ibadat or muamalat or ahlaq. We sholdn’t differentiate between Allah SWT’s command. We can’t take part of islam and leave the rest. We should practice comprehensively. If we don’t implement Islam comprehensively in our life we won’t be able to have a better world. For example, the people of the world have good ahlaq ,yet in muamalath we don’t implement Islam say the banks are running based on interest, then how can we achieve prosperous? So in order to achieve a better world we have to implement Islam in whole area of our life i.e education, e/c, social political and ect. I am yearning to live under such a wonderful world while I am child.

Insha Allah by implementing islam as a whole in our life by following our beloved prophet SAW we  can become a true mu’min. So that we can fulfil the purpose why we were created and attain the pleasure of Allah SWT.

Aameen.
